From the stallholders...

"What I love about Global Market Day is the sense of community and the dynamic atmosphere it creates. Families, young and old all embrace and enthusiastically support the concept of contributing to developing communities.”

Robyn Richards, Gifted Hands

"We love the opportunity as a small business creating ethical products that the global market day offers to us!  It’s an incredible thing to enter a room where you know every dollar spent is going to support incredible good around the world- as well, it opens your eyes to what's really out there, a celebration of the good news in the world in contrast to all the bad news we often seem to hear when it comes to development and aid.”

Dan and Catrina, Moselle Clothing

“GMD brings together such a diverse range of customers.  It’s a fantastic place sell my products and to raise awareness around the global issue of ethical trade.”

Di Stitt, One Colour

“It is a joy to participate in the Global Market Day where you can feel the excitement, the unity and positivity shared by both  the stall holders and the customers.”

Pam McGann, Siham Craftlink

“The energy at last year’s Global Market Day was fabulous.  I felt like I was part of a huge team promoting and supporting charities and under developed communities around the world.  The amount of people that attended on the evening was even more impressive.  The whole night was extremely well organised.  Everyone - stall holders, customers all were there for a common purpose and it felt good to be apart of such a worthwhile event.  Thankyou Kate for the opportunity for Go Fair to promote Fair Trade, childrens multicultural, educational and Indigenous products and resources to the community.”

Ruth, Go Fair Trading

From the volunteer...

I guess the main reason why I enjoy being involved in Global Market Day is that I feel I am actually doing something to change a real person’s future. The market has a great community feel that is vibrant and fun.  People are friendly, happy and chat to each other which adds to the fun of the day.

Most of the volunteer workers I had last year rostered to work for an hour each didn’t want to go home and kept chasing me away saying they wanted to stay as they were enjoying selling and talking to people.

Everything is colourful, with unique crafts on display and for sale.  You can spend hours reading all the stories of the real people involved in the making of the goods or just spend time looking at the stalls or eating the variety of different food.  It’s a great place to catch up with friends or people in the community.  I love how children are always welcome and there is always activities for them to be involved in too.

I’ve bought many unique gifts for family and friends that they have truly loved as they are hand made, not mass produced.  I love the fact that everything on sales has helped empower people (often impoverished women) to earn a decent income and be paid a fair price for their goods and not be ripped off!

This is an easy fun way to actually change a life for the better by being either a consumer or a volunteer worker, I’ve been both!
